Testing Services

Michigan Scientific Corporation provides advanced mechanical testing services to support product validation, certification, and performance evaluation across a wide range of industries. Our engineers design and execute custom test setups, produce certified reports, and ensure that every test meets the highest standards of accuracy and repeatability.

SFI Bellhousing Certification Testing

Michigan Scientific performs motorsport bellhousing tests to SFI specifications 6.1, 6.2, and 6.3.

Our test process includes:

  • Supporting new product qualifications, multi-sample validation, and ongoing recertification required by SFI
  • Spinning a 30 lb flywheel to the specification-defined burst speed (up to 11,000 r/min)
  • Using NIST-traceable speed measurement instrumentation
  • Conduction of all tests in a horizontal orientation with representative fasteners
  • Verifying that the bellhousing contains all flywheel fragments and remains attached to the fixture
  • Providing a professional engineer-authenticated test report

Fatigue Testing

Michigan Scientific performs fatigue life testing to evalutate long-term durability and predict service life.

Available methods include:

  • Load-based fatigue testing using motor-driven eccentric actuators
  • Continuous monitoring and time-plot analysis for changes in load signature
  • Strain-based fatigue testing using precision strain gauges applied to the test article

These methods help characterize material behavior, compare designs, and validate product reliability

Load Testing

We conduct static and dynamic load testing on components of all sizes.
Capabilities include:

  • Up to 60,000 lb single-axis load frame capacity
  • Custom fixtures designed to simulate real-world installation
  • Torque calibration using precision gauged drive shafts
  • Torque application up to 12,000 ft-lb, with larger capacities available upon request

Mass, force and weighing devices and mechanical calibration are accredited to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standards. All reference measurement equipment is traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

Thermal/Temperature Cycling Tests

Our environmental testing capabilities include:

  • Temperature conditioning from -40 °C to +200 °C
  • A 27 ft³ (3 ft× 3 ft × 3 ft) temperature chamber for cycling strain‑gauged components
  • Thermal output tracking under no‑load conditions to validate sensor stability
