Description

The Michigan Scientific Seat Belt Load Cell is designed to measure tension in flat seat belts and similar belt materials. The transducer uses a full strain gauge bridge sensor to measure load as the belt wraps through the load cell, making it well suited for passive safety testing, restraint system development, and laboratory applications.

Because belt thickness and material properties can affect measurement accuracy, Michigan Scientific recommends calibrating the load cell with the belt material intended for testing. Spacer plates can be configured for the customer’s belt thickness to maintain the proper belt path through the transducer.
